BioSTAR® Overview

BioSTAR®  bioabsorbable septal repair implant is the most advanced implant available designed to provide biological closure of atrial-level defects using the patient’s natural healing response. It employs the proven double umbrella configuration, self centering microsprings, a purified acellular collagen matrix and a heparin coating. Over time 90% to 95% of the BioSTAR® implant is absorbed and replaced with healthy native tissue. The BioSTAR® bioabsorbable septal repair implant is the first septal occluder device with a totally bioabsorbable matrix.

BioSTAR® is approved and is commercially available in Canada and Europe.
